The Christchurch Symphony Orchestra is one of the most versatile and busiest orchestras in New Zealand, and it is constantly in demand to perform.
Christchurch Symphony Orchestra presents its own programme of three series of concerts a year - the Lamb & Hayward Masterworks concerts (classical music), AMI Insurance Proms concerts (lighter classical and family entertainment), and the CSO Presents concerts (eclectic mix of musical styles, from Latin to Viennese waltzes to cabaret).
In addition to these performances we also run a Cool Sounds Education Programme for primary school children, and a Kids to Concerts Programme for secondary school pupils, as part of our Outreach Programme.

Christchurch Symphony Orchestra also provides the orchestral accompaniment for Southern Opera, the Christchurch City Choir and other local groups such as the Civic Music Council.
We rehearse in the evening, which allows for teaching / other work during the day.
