CSO is passionate about our Outreach and Education programme. An award winning partnership with Solid Energy enable us to offer a wide variety of activities, concerts and experiences to primary and secondary schools as well as the wider community.
For 2009 the following programmes will be available:
CSO KIDS
For preschoolers, these concerts are a fun, child friendly introduction to classical music and orchestral instruments. |

BIG BANG
Offered to all primary schools in Christchurch, these twice yearly concerts are an energetic and interactive way of engaging children in music.
COOL SOUNDS
Small ensembles of CSO musicians visit primary schools, enabling children to learn about instruments and music first hand.
SECONDARY SCHOOLS ORCHESTRA FESTIVAL
Secondary schools are supported with orchestra rehearsal support, conducting workshops and composition workshops and an opportunity to participate in the Orchestra Festival, culminating in a Gala Concert.

SMALL GROUP TOURS
Regular tours of small ensembles of CSO musicians tour through Nelson/ Marlborough, the West Coast and Southland/ Central Lakes regions.
RETIREMENT HOMES
Small chamber music groups also give recitals at Retirement Villages and Rest Homes.
