Antonio Dimitrov was born and educated in Bulgaria. He completed, with distinction, a Masters Degree majoring in French Horn at the National Academy of Music in Sofia.
He was awarded a Bulgarian Ministry of Culture Scholarship and completed post-graduate studies in Czechoslovakia and in Germany.
Antonio also completed a Postgraduate Teaching degree at the Christchurch College of Education (University of Canterbury).
He has given solo and chamber music performances in Europe and the United States. He has also travelled extensively as a member of various orchestras and played in such prestigious venues as the Royal Albert Hall in London, the J. F. Kennedy Center in Washington and the United Nations in New York under the baton of Leonard Bernstein.
In 1997, Antonio Dimitrov moved to Christchurch to take up a position with Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. His busy schedule combines concert performances and extensive teaching work.
