Jonathan began playing the clarinet in England and was a member of the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra before moving to New Zealand and joining the Christchurch Youth Orchestra.
He studied with Keith Spragg whilst at the University of Canterbury and played for the Christchurch Symphony at this time. Jonathan developed an itinerant teaching practice and has played for the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and made recordings for Radio New Zealand.
A keen interest in aviation led him into commercial flying, a period as a flight instructor and a break from playing and teaching music. Over time, the pull of the orchestra brought him back into his current position as the associate principal clarinet, with the saxophone as a second instrument when required.Proudly Sponsored by: Syndicate – Jan Webley; Barbara Peddie
