Claire studied violin most recently with Isidor Saslav and Donald Maurice, and piano under Iola Shelley. As well as achieving Trinity College London and Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) diplomas in both instruments and a Bachelor of Music, she was the recipient of scholarships and awards from both ABRSM and the University of Otago.
Claire has played with the Christchurch Symphony and Dunedin Sinfonia for several years and has also undertaken Chamber Music New Zealand tours.
Claire enjoyed a full time career as a freelance musician up until eight years ago when she retrained as a midwife. She now works full-time as an independent midwife and maintains her musical side through ongoing work with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and supporting her children in their musical pursuits.
