Double Bass

Ross Radford

Ross began his studies on double bass at Cashmere High School in Christchurch with Ellen Doyle before moving to Wellington to study with the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation, Schola Musica (teachers, Harry Botham and Dale Gold).

A Scholarship with the ABC Training Orchestra in Sydney also provided the opportunity to study with John Gray (Principal double bass player with St Martins in the Fields).

After a year playing with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Ross joined the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for 12 years.

An opportunity to return to Christchurch has seen Ross involved with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and Christchurch School of Music over many years.
