Viktor Filippochkin started his musical carrier as a double bass player in Kiev (Ukraine).
He graduated from the R.Glier’s Kiev State Music College (now the R.M.Glier Kiev Institute of Music) and continued his education at the Tchaikovsky National Conservatory of Music (Ukraine), before he was accepted to the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. He later took up the position of associate principal double bass.
With the NSO of Ukraine, Viktor extensively toured throughout Europe, Australia and Hong Kong.
For many years in the Ukraine, he was a member of different chamber groups as well as a teacher at R. Glier’s Kiev State Music College.
In 1996, Viktor moved to New Zealand where he continues his musical career as the principal double bass at the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, a chamber group player and a successful teacher.Proudly Sponsored by: Bernice & Murray Ireland
