Each of the major sections of the CSO will have a chance to shine in this beautiful Sunday concert series – four very distinctive programmes, based on the elements, which develop into a complementary whole. |

The sonorities of the strings feature in Earth conducted by Italian Maestro, Marco Zuccarini. He will conduct Tchaikovsky’s melodic, well-loved Serenade for Strings, one of the greatest works for string orchestra, and heard here in the lush acoustic for which the Cathedral is famous. Cantabile for Strings is by Arvo Pärt’s Estonian compatriot, Peteris Vasks, whose work is lyrical, spiritual and haunting. Oleg Kotorovich, CSO’s Associate Concertmaster plays Vivaldi’s delightful Concerto Op. 3 No. 6 from L’Estro Armonico, a work written in 1711 and performed in the composer’s time in the famous San Marco Cathedral in Venice.
